Telotypes
Limited and Regular editions
Telotypes is an ode to the spirit of Los Angeles and an homage to Lewis Baltz.
Between 2019 and 2022, I examined the tremendous pressure Los Angeles exerts on the landscape and its effect on people’s psyches.
The word “telotype” that I forged with the Greek stems τέλος (i.e., end, boundary, border, extremity) and τύπος for (mark, figure, outline) is a nod to Lewis Baltz’s The Prototype Works, a portfolio he completed in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Revisiting the photographic tropes Baltz developed, I aimed to further the conversation around Southern California’s post-WWII urban sprawl.
