Passing through Gröningen, 2009

This is the outcome of a workshop held during the Noorderlicht photo festival 2009 in Gröningen (NL). The theme was "Passing through". In fact the city is considered as world cycling city with the best, most extensive and well kept cycling infrastructures. Also, Gröningen is town where young people drop by before heading to different places in The Netherlands.

I ended up taking pictures while cycling. I never stopped down but kept going.

English vertical typical, 2009

With "English vertical typicals", the main drive was to get lost in different parts of the great city of London. I never got twice on the same train to explore as many corners as possible. At that time I was interning a famous agency and the pictures were mainly captured at lunch time. having a bite.

It is also an aesthetic try out with the vertical framing that is now an essential part of my visual grammar.

Rising Sea Levels, 2008 & 2009

Initiated in Brighton in October 2008, and completed in March 2009, "Rising Sea Levels" reflects my concern of Global Warming. This is the first step in a long-term dedication focusing on that idea.

The city inspired something deep dealing with an anticipation of the changes that are to come by the end of the 21st century yet already effective.

It is an imaginary landscape when adverse weather goes way too far in our own understanding.

Living in Bordeaux, 2005 - 2008

I started taking pictures in Bordeaux, France, my hometown, in a compulsive way to go out and shoot. I first adopted a documentary approach since important changes occured at that time with the construction of brand new tram infrastructures. That considerably changed the way we perceived space in the city with entire sidewalks and streets devoted to pedestrians and bicycles in an attempt to get on a greener track.

When almost completed I figured that purely documentary imperatives are not really me. The pictures didn't actually reflect a faithful record of the changes but a personal record of moods of the place.

7029,85 m., 2007 - 2008

Attending courses at the University of Bordeaux I mostly commuted by bike. It is 25 minutes away from my home.

At a certain stage it got very boring so I decided to enlight that routine a fair bit taking my camera along.

It is about those elusive moments. You can't focus too much on what's going on around you because you've to keep focused on the road. It's just about that.
